Community School Coordinators (CSC) lead community school (CS) development and support teams to do the same. But for many schools and districts, there isn’t always a universal understanding of what the CSC role really is–or what it entails. Limited understanding about and lack of clarity around the role of the CSC gets in the way of successful community school development. Ensuring that everyone–including the CSC–is clear on the role, responsibilities and opportunities, on the other hand, can help accelerate it.

CS Leaders: The Role of the Community School Coordinator is a two-part, virtual workshop designed to help participants gain a greater understanding of the role of the Community School Coordinator (CSC) – what they do, what they’re responsible for, where they’re positioned in school teams and within school leadership, and the arc of their work over the course of a year. Facilitated by the Community Schools Learning Exchange (CSLX), these interactive sessions will walk through the enabling conditions essential to community school development, use real-life examples to illustrate the role CSCs play in building teams’ capacities to do this work, and offer guidance for leading teams and engaging in long-term planning.

By joining, you’ll develop a greater understanding of topics like shared leadership, inclusive decision making, and meaningful interest holder engagement–crucial ingredients in community school development. Each session will include time for collaboration with and learning from peers, and real-time action planning.

Learning Outcomes:

1
Develop an in-depth understanding of the Community School Coordinator role and how to plan for or set your CSC for success;
2
Design an arc of the year – how CSC's priorities and activities change throughout the school year and how to map them out effectively;
3
Practice strategies, develop plans of action, and receive the right tools and materials to support your equity-driven work
