Turning a community school vision into reality is complex work. You're balancing grant requirements, competing priorities, stakeholder expectations, and the day-to-day realities of school and district life–all while working to create meaningful, lasting change.

You may be asking, how do we align community schools with other initiatives rather than adding one more thing? How do we know what to focus on next? How do we sustain momentum and demonstrate impact over time?

From Vision to Action: Building Community Schools That Last is a two-part virtual learning series designed to help community school practitioners, leaders, and implementation teams answer those questions, and more. Grounded in CSLX's developmental approach to community school implementation, participants will explore the Community Schools Essentials framework, learn about strengthening the enabling conditions that support transformational change, and start moving from isolated efforts to aligned systems, shared ownership, and sustainable practices.

What you'll walk away with:

1
Greater clarity around the roles of students, families, community partners, school staff, and leadership teams in driving the work;
2
Strategies for building trust, shared vision, meaningful engagement, and collaborative leadership;
3
Practical tools, resources, and reflection protocols, designed to transform how schools and interest holders work together, and that you can apply immediately;
4
Approaches for using data and lived experiences to tell the story of your impact and guide continuous improvement; and
Sessions

Sept. 24, 2026: Building the Foundation

Strong community schools don't happen by accident–they are built intentionally over time. In this session, participants will explore the Community Schools Essentials framework, the enabling conditions that support transformational change, and the roles, relationships, and structures that help bring a community school vision to life.

Nov. 19. 2026: Deepening & Sustaining the Work

As community schools mature, new questions emerge: How do we know we're making progress? How do we communicate impact? How do we sustain momentum over time? This session focuses on strengthening implementation through continuous improvement, strategic use of data, systems alignment, and long-term, growth-oriented sustainability planning.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Community School Leaders: The Role of the Principal workshop is designed specifically for principals, school leaders, and the school-site and LEA-level practitioners and teams who work with and support them.

Bring colleagues who work on the ground to lead your community school strategy at school sites. These can be Community School Coordinators, principals, teachers, and/or those at the district level that lead your community school initiatives.

Yes, you can attend one or both sessions. Each session is designed to stand on its own, so you’ll benefit even if you only join one. However, we planned the series with an intentional learning arc, so we highly encourage you to register for both workshops to support your Community Schools development journey throughout the year.

We have intentionally designed each session to allow ample time to process content individually, in small groups, and in a whole-group setting, and we knew we couldn’t do each topic justice in just two hours. But not to worry – you’ll be getting a one-hour break after the first two hours of the workshop to regroup, process, and simply take care of yourselves! The time will fly by!

As a part of their learning, participants will talk through the outcomes of community school development, how to measure those outcomes, and how to sustain and grow the work over time. Along the way, you’ll have an opportunity to build community with like-minded peers, process and reflect on new ideas, practice new skills and strategies, and actively bring what you’ve learned to your teams, sites and districts.

The fee is $200 per person. Those coming with their teams should pay a registration fee for each person who is attending.

If you’d like a large team of more than 10 people to go through this training together, contact us at love@cslx.org so we can help you determine what type of opportunity might be the most impactful for your team.

Yes! The CSLX page will take you to the Eventleaf platform to purchase your tickets. Feel free to reach out to love@cslx.org if you run into any issues while trying to register.

The workshop presentation and group community share-outs will be recorded and shared with workshop registrants after the workshop. Breakout group discussions held during each workshop will not be recorded. Recordings will be shared within a week after the workshop and will be available for 30 days.

Registered participants will receive the materials and resources we cover through a page only accessible by registered participants.

Cancellation requests must be communicated to CSLX no later than Wednesday, March 4, 2026, in order to receive a refund. Please note that you will be charged a 10% fee for administration costs associated with your cancellation and that partial refunds are not available. You may request a cancellation by emailing love@cslx.org.

We’d love to hear more! Just send us a note at love@cslx.org so we can discuss other options that might enable us to provide you with more individualized support on your assets and needs assessment and asset mapping processes.

What if we've been looking at sustainability all wrong?

When practitioners think about community school sustainability planning, especially as CCSPP grants continue to “age,” the first question they often ask is, “how are we going to replace this funding?” But sustainability planning shouldn’t revolve around dollar for dollar replacements.
