CSLX is running a session at the National Community Schools and Family Engagement Conference about prioritizing inclusion and belonging in community schools. The workshop will help participants reflect on how intentional planning for inclusivity and belonging can result in reduced segregation and labeling and increased achievement and well-being for all students. The session will make direct connections between the community schools strategy and special education. It will focus on how community school strategies create systems that are fundamentally learner-centered, to serve the fullest array and continuum of diverse learners. Participants will examine what an inclusive community school looks like, explore how to create the conditions for inclusion and belong, and unpack real and perceived barriers to inclusivity.
