Relationship-centered family engagement and family-school partnerships centered on students yield positive academic and social-emotional outcomes, and have a profound impact on school culture. And, it’s really hard work! How can schools, educators, families and community partners move from transactional relationships to truly transformative partnerships?
Join the Community Schools Learning Exchange (CSLX) on March 18th to gain insights, learn new strategies, and access practical resources that can help community school practitioners, district leads, and school teams reinvigorate their relationships with families. This 90-minute session will help you take a clear-eyed look at the current state of your school and family partnerships, develop a deeper understanding of how to take these partnerships to the next level, chart a course to get from here to there–and forge new connections to other people doing similar work so you can continue conversations after the session ends.
Participants in this session will:
Learn how transformational family engagement is a key practice of community school systems;
Review a wide array of approaches to transformational family engagement;
Vision, plan, and problem-solve transformational family engagement strategies.
During this session, participants will engage in thoughtful dialogue with peers, share their own experiences and learn from the experiences of others, and tap into the expertise of Dr. James Bridgeforth and Dr. Karina Ruiz, two long-time community school practitioners, family engagement researchers and strategists, and community builders.
Note: This session will be highly interactive. Participants will be expected to review and reflect on materials they will receive prior to the workshop.
